I am stood on the Great Ridge of Mam Tor witnessing this moody atmospheric scene. I am wrestling with the tripod’s legs and levelling head, then double checking my camera settings - I messed up the focusing on my first attempt and I can’t afford to waste anymore time. I am attempting a fifteen frame stitch Super Wide Panorama which will capture the whole of this long valley and the atmospheric conditions. I need to get this one right as the view is about to disappear into the murk. The hillside is spot lit by warm winter sunshine but the mist rushing between the hills to the left and into the Edale valley below me will soon distinguish all light and sight. I make my fifteen exposures and the scene below disappears into the fog.
